China sets 2019 GDP growth target at 6-6.5 pct

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- China has set its GDP growth target at 6-6.5 percent for 2019, according to a government work report available to the news media Tuesday morning ahead of the annual legislative session.

China aims to maintain consumer inflation level at around 3 percent and create over 11 million new urban jobs. The surveyed urban unemployment rate is projected to stay around 5.5 percent, the registered urban unemployment rate within 4.5 percent, according to the report to be delivered Tuesday morning at the second session of the 13th National People's Congress, China's national legislature.

"The above projected targets are ambitious but realistic--they represent our aim of promoting high-quality development, are in keeping with the current realities of China's development, and are aligned with the goal of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects," the report says.
